The Jamaica Association of General Baptists celebrated their 49th annual session on August 16-19, 2015. With the conclusion of that meeting, the Jamaica Association begins a year long celebration of their association’s Golden Anniversary.
During the year they will represent at the General Baptist Summit in Bowling Green, Kentucky on July 18-20, 2016. Special articles concerning General Baptist involvement in Jamaica over the last 50 years will be in the Capsule and General Baptist Messenger, and a portion of the 2016 Ed Steven’s Offering and the International Missions portion of the Summit Mission’s offering will be designated for Jamaica. The 50th Annual session of the Association will meet in August 2016 at the Faith General Baptist Church in May Pen Clarendon.
GBIM’s Strategic Church Initiative will focus on Jamaica in 2016. The initial project for 2015 is to assist with a church plant in the Philippines. The 2016 project is focused on a project to assist the Jamaica Association with a new church plant. Reverend Philip Pusey, Mission’s Director for the Jamaica Association states concerning this property, this “piece of property (is one) that we are desperately in need of as we seek God’s directive on the trajectory in our quest forward.”
Jamaica Association elected Gentley Thompson as President of the Association. Reverend Thompson is pastor of Deliverance General Baptist Church in the Suttons District of Clarendon. Reverend Craig White was elected to serve the association as Secretary.
