The General Baptist Bible College in the Philippines is working through the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to government restrictions the school is not allowed face to face instruction and thanks to the economic fallout of COVID-19 the school’s enrollment has fallen well below historic norms making it impossible to meet its budget needs not to mention increased budget needs due to printing costs of take home packets, distance learning by internet, etc.
GBIM determined early on to do whatever is necessary to keep the school functioning during these difficult days. GBBC has been instrumental in providing leadership for the Filipino church making the Philippines the second largest concentration of General Baptists after the United States.
After the executive council meeting at Fellowship Church (Poplar Bluff, MO), OCU President Dr. Ron Dempsey approached GBIM Director Mark Powell with a 1:1 matching grant proposal effective that date (October 9, 2020) through May 15, 2021 up to $25,000!
To date we have received $65,000 for GBBC of which $11,800 will be matched by the OCU matching grant program. We have estimated we need to raise $115,000 to $125,000 to keep the school open through the end of the 2021 school year. Please get your gift in before the grant program expires on May 15, 2021!
Thank you OCU and President Dempsey for your partnership and thank you to all who have given to the college thus far.
